Help Lynchburg realtor and runner Karl Miller raise support for Freedom 4/24 against human trafficking

Freedom 4/24 was introduced to me (Karl) in 2009 by the brother of Freedom 4/24’s founder. Upon hearing of their mission of offering freedom, justice, and hope to victims and survivors of human trafficking, this mission resonated with me as I previously worked in a year-round camp school with a similar mission of giving teens hope and tools to succeed in life.

For the last three years, I’ve had a written goal to run the Conquer The Wall Marathon in China with my friend Joel, a former training buddy who now resides in China with his family. We have decided 2017 is the year to do this! This race is grueling. A standard 26.2 mile marathon, the majority of this race is actually run up and down 20,518 steps on the ancient wall. The median men’s finish time in 2016 was almost 8 hours and 40 minutes!

I recognize there are many friends, business acquaintances, and clients who support and applaud this effort and my training pain. Now it is time for them to tangibly support this epic run. This race will be used to raise money for Freedom 4/24’s safe home in Uganda, Christine’s House. This money will fund a much needed van for the girls at Christine’s House so they can go to medical appointments, school activities, etc. We are striving to raise $1.00 for each stair-step of the race course. Our goal is to raise $20,518 before May 13, Race Day!

Lynchburg friends, here is the challenge: briskly walk or run up downtown’s Monument Terrace steps, then consider that we will running many more miles and doing 146 stair repeats that day! Feel the burn and donate a few “steps” to help Jarrod, Amy and myself offer hope to people who currently have no hope, which Freedom 4/24 offers: a way out of human trafficking. Your donations will spur me on too! I look forward to sharing our journey of the training, fundraising, travel, and race with you! Who knows what stories will be told in the future of how your support changed lives! Thank you for your generosity.
